The United Methodist Women

The purpose of the United Methodist Women is to form a community of women who know God, to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ, who fellowship, and who expand the concepts of mission through participation in mission locally, regionally and globally.  "Mission is a gift, not a task." God has given us this gift - to share in God's mission to the world by witnessing to God's acts in the past and in the present.

"Members are encouraged to reach out to others----welcoming all women- --to invite them to join United Methodist Women, a place to nurture faith, experience and community and to engage in mission. The membership of United Methodist Women is voluntary and open to all women who are committed and engaged in mission and who affirm the PURPOSE. You don't have to be a member of the United Methodist Church to be a member of United Methodist Women." --  From UMW on a Path for Mission

In 2015 the UMW participated in a wide variety of activities. These included a "Day at the Legislature", a Spiritual Growth Retreat, Mission U at OCU, Oklahoma City, various leadership development events, 'Toole Tyme" at Cookson Hills Center, and the Santa Operation, Neighborhood Services Organization. Additionally, various local activities contributed to reaching others with hope and friendship.

Barnard Memorial UMC's United Methodist Women hold annually a "UMW Spring Luncheon" in May to raise funds for various activities of mission.  They meet monthly, except for June and July, on the second Thursday of the month at the church or in members homes. Call the church office for information on the current meeting place and then come join women "in faith, hope, and love in action."
